Light up my life
I find it amazing what is being done to combat global warming and what is not being done.  The most serious issues are constantly delayed while knee jerk re-actions are the main result.  The rush to change over to long life light bulbs is a very good example.  I constantly hear complaints about low energy bulbs.  They make buzzing noises, the light they emit is poor, they don't fit into various light fittings and they may be hard to dispose of.  You can't argue against light bulbs that use a fraction of the power of the old bulbs but the replacements have to be at least as good.
I have reached that age where I am approaching the need for reading glasses.  I now understand why so many older people complain over the poor light from the new globes.  Next to my bed I have needed to remove the new globes and put back the old globes as the light is so poor I cannot read.  My partner finds it the same.  No matter how bright the new globe, the light provided was pitiful compared to the old globes.  If we are going to make the world a better place it needs to be better for everyone.  The long life globes need to improve drastically before the phase out period.
