If you are unhappy with the care you receive from a medical practitioner there are a number of ways you can go about seeking an explanation.
Talk to your doctor about why you are unhappy with the care or advice you have received. Your doctor should be willing to discuss any concerns you have. You may prefer to discuss the concerns with another doctor in the practice or the practice manager. If you are unhappy with these responses, or you think the care you received was not of a good standard then you may:
The New South Wales Medical Board
The New South Wales Medical Board is responsible for protecting the people of New South Wales by making sure that only properly trained doctors are allowed to practise, and that complaints about doctors are properly handled. By doing this, it ensures that the people of New South Wales receive the highest possible standard of medical care.
The Better Health Channel
The primary role of the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria is to protect the community. The 12-member Board is made up of nine senior medical practitioners, a lawyer, and two community members who are not medically qualified. All doctors practising in Victoria must be registered with the Board.
